Happy Birthday Ashley

-Can you believe it? Can you believe it, basketball is back baby! Last night was the first night of the NBA season and wow was it….. Typical NBA basketball. Play hard the first quarter see if you can blow out the road team and get them to quit. If that doesn’t work coast for the second and third quarter and the see if you can finish out you opponent in the fourth. I really do struggle watching an NBA game, there is no ball movement and there is just so much one on one play the games never feel like they have a true rhythm.

-I did enjoy watching the Cavs try to assimilate their new players. Shaq is huge and let’s be honest he is not interested in playing this time of year. He never has been it doesn’t matter the key for this team is a healthy happy and motivated Shaq in the playoffs. Anthony Parker looked pretty good and he and Moon are going to be keys to late season victories. Last year the Cavs got caught with a very small backcourt, Parker and Moon give them the size the need. I know that I sound like a homer but I think that late in the season you could see Danny Green getting some key minutes. He has a nose for making the big play and can knock down a big three.

-Lebron looked like Lebron. He is dominating; nobody can match his size speed and strength. He can get to the hoop almost whenever he wants and man can he finish. He can come up with big blocks in transition and almost always comes up with one big steal. I really hope that he has developed his 3 point shooting . Once he gets that going he truly will be unstoppable. I think this supporting cast is the best that he has had so it will be interesting to see what they can all do.

-Again I will be called a homer but I think that Tyler Hansbrough will have a better year than most people think. He will be playing against mostly second string players and if we know anything about him he will out work you for ten points a game. I am also excited because he has been getting ringing endorsements from Larry Bird.

-Its Halloween weekend and I guess I am getting a little old, because I am really not all that interested. I know there are big parties and you get to dress up but really I like sitting in a warm comfortable chair not worrying about home I am going to get home. I really don’t want to have to worry about what I am going to dress up like and I really don’t want to have to worry about the amateurs out there that drink 3 days a year and can’t handle there liquor.

-I have two questions, What the F@#K is a Hoosier and What the F%&K is an Aggie? And why do the Buckeyes play both this year? Ok so that was three questions.

-Happy Birthday Dr. Weed, please no punching tonight.
-Morgan has still never seen a shot he won’t take, the Real Deal will pump fake your ass into submission, TJ is too scared to show up anymore and I still can’t dunk.

Try this again

Wow, after completely f@34ing up my blog last Friday, yes I now know that Michigan didn’t play Iowa, we are going to try this again. We will start this review of the weekend by saying we didn’t learn anything. We knew Ohio State could beat an average football team, Iowa could win ugly albeit in a very entertaining game. Florida and Texas are beatable but it’s going to take a heck of an effort. We knew TCU was good, but maybe not quite this good so maybe we learned a little.

-I don’t quite know how to score my picks from Friday as Michigan did lose, Iowa did win even though it was in different games so let’s call that two wins so that makes me 4-0 last Friday and 2-0 the week before that 6-0 on my own blog so let’s keep that going. TCU absolutely crushed BYU at BYU and that was impressive, their offense was explosive and the defense was absolutely visisous. I can’t wait for both BYU and Boise to blow up the BCS, can we finally get a playoff?

-The Buckeyes looked really good this week but it was against a average to below average Big Ten team. You can’t tell much from games like this. Terrell Pryor looked good but this is his MO, beat up on inferror athletes. He can do what he wants because he is big stronger and faster then there hole team. The big question is can he remember what he learned from this game when they play a big time opponent. I hope he keeps progressing, but only time will tell. I was very happy with the way the Freshman running back Martin played, he ran hard and pyshical. He looks like a good North, South runner and could be dominate in the goal line settings.

-I apologize to Barndo for not making it to you birthday extravaganza , I felt like crap and needed to catch up on some sleep promise I will make it to the next one. I promise not to breaka your heart anymore.

-Now for my little rant. I am so pissed of that my TV shows are starting to show reruns already! Are you kidding me, I wait along damn summer long for my shows to start back up and you can’t keep new ones coming for more the 5 weeks in a row? I know you have to work on your other “Projects” but come on. I just want to watch good quality TV, I hate reality TV and try not to watch it but I can only watch so many Star Trek reruns. Please just keep the new shows coming.

-Can’t wait for tonight, the Grandview transfers will dominate, Morgan will go for 50 on 20-55 shooting very AI like, and I will dunk on TJ.

College Football Day

Thank God it’s Friday! I have been locked up in either my house or at my office now for the last seven days, I am ready to get out and go cause some trouble. Between Elizabeth and I having the flu and then having to catch up at work for the three days I missed, I am ready to go crazy so let me know what any of you are up to.

So tomorrow is college football day or as it’s now around the rest of the country Saturday. Again there are some great match ups around the country including a couple interesting games in the Big Ten.
-Ohio State playing Minnesota is quite an interestinggame, these two teams could go either way at this point of season. Ohio State coming of a horrible lose to Purdue really needs to come out and establish themselves offensively and defensively. We really need to see the defense flying around making big plays, and the offense really needs to sustain long drives to give the defense a break. Ohio State still controls its own destiny, win out and they can still win the Big Ten and that is a lot to play for. Minnesota on the other hand has looked very good at points in time this year but Offensively they need to establish someone else as an offensive threat, other than Decker. I think that Ohio State comes out and shuts Minnesota down. Their defense will come out angry and create some turnovers which will lead to easy points OSU 31 Minnesota 7

-Another Big Ten game that has some intrigue is the Michigan versus Iowa. I think that Michigan is the kind of team that can knock off anyone at anytime. They have an explosive offense that can score and score quickly and a Freshman Quarterback that doesn’t realize that Freshman aren’t supposed to win big games. Michigan’s problem is that they can’t stop anybody, their defense is anemic and is just weak. Iowa is really interesting to me, they did beat Penn State, but how good is Penn State. Iowa could be a really good team but they aren’t going to get a ton of respect from the national media until they beat a team outside the Big Ten, problem is they won’t play anyone outside the Big Ten until their bowl game. Iowa is a tough physical team that is playing an updated version of old school Big Ten foot ball. This game was a difficult to pick, I really think that Michigan can upset Iowa but Iowa has too much riding on this game: Iowa 38 Michigan 17

-A game that has big BCS implications that most people don’t know about is TCU versus BYU. That’s right this game has BCS implications simply for the reason TCU is undefeated and so is Boise State but only one of them will play in the BCS. TCU has a tougher schedule to finish up with, but if they win out they will jump Boise in the computer polls and probably in the human polls as well. This would mean that an undefeated Boise State team won’t only get hosed out of playing for a BCS title but they won’t even get to play in a BCS game. God I hate the BCS when will they finally get around to having a playoff? TCU 31 BYU 28

-Pay attention to what your government is doing! The Federal Reserve is now trying to take over all Executive pay in the Banking Industry, not just the banks that asked for federal help but all of them. You might ask why does this affect you ? If they take over Executive pay in the banking industry how long do you think it is going to take before they control all Executive pay. Well you might say I am not a executive , well you might not be right now, but there is a pretty good chance that you or someone you know will someday own their own business. That would make you or them an executive. What gives the government the right to tell people how much money people can make. We are a free market, or we are suppose to be, tell the government to leave us alone. Oh by the way those people who they government wants to cut their compensation pay the most taxes. The top 10% of all earners pay 90% of all taxes, just a thought.

-Real Deal you can’t criticize me for a typo when you don’t post, Team Secret Falcon Radio is going down the drain, and I still can’t dunk.

Fun with H1N1

That’s right I am back. I do apologize for not blogging the past few days but I had H1N1 and didn’t leave my house for days. As for my feeling on H1N1, I have had worse flu’s but not by much. My advice try not to make out with people that have flu symptoms.

Now to get into the heart of my blog, the football Buckeyes. Wow did they look bad on Saturday, and it wasn’t just the offense the defense looked almost as bad. Why did the defensive coordinators go away from the blitzing, run around with your hair on fire scheme? Our defense was striking fear into the heart of the opposing teams, so to go fall back into soft zones didn’t make sense. I get that the Buckeyes are going to get the opposing team’s best game but Purdue? Really? In short our defense was not flying to the ball and did play with reckless abandon.

Terrell Pryor did manage to play with reckless abandon but that is not what you want from your Sophomore Quarterback. Please I really don’t want to hear about how he is young, so is Barkley at USC. Remind me, was it Sophomore Sam Bradford that won the Heisman? And what year did Tebow win his Heisman? Ok so there goes your he is a young Quarterback. My biggest problem with him is that he is still indecisive. Everytime he drops back in the pocket it looks like he is thinking “Where was Coach telling me to throw the ball?”. The major problem seems to be is he still thinks that his athletic abilities are enough to get him by. It doesn’t work like that in major college football, everyone is an athletic freak, you have to out work and out study people.

My other major problem with this team is the offensive play calling. It is not that it is boring, I am actually fine with that. My problem comes from the fact that they don’t use Pryor the way they should. If he is the next “Vince Young” why do I not see more of the zone read that helped lead Texas to a BCS title? It is not this coaching staffs job to get Pryor ready for the NFL and turn him into pocket passer, it is their job to win football games now. If you don’t think that you can run the zone read because of the offensive line, I understand that and if that is the case it’s time to see what Bauserman can do. Terrell has not developed the way you wanted him to so you have to either switch your offense to fit his skill or switch personal to fit your system. It’s broke and it’s time to fix it.

In other college football news, last weekend was full of great games. Texas vs. Oklahoma wasn’t a high scoring affair but it was sure fun to watch. Notre Dame vs USC was fun as well, watching 2 really good Quarterbacks move the ball up and down the field. I believe that I also told you that Cincinnati was better then OSU and I believe that is holding up right now.

What we know
-Ashley has a mean right cross so don’t mess with her money, Brando is now an old man, Morgan doesn’t fake the funk on a nasty dunk.

No College basketball

Don’t know if anyone else was listening to some of the talk radio stations earlier this week, but there were some seriously scary interviews. Here is the story. In Detroit, Michigan people were given the opportunity to apply for stimulus money. There were thousands lined up to apply for this money, so a local TV station went and interviewed some of these people.
Reporter: “So what are you here for?”
Moron: “Obama money?”
Reporter: “Well where is this money coming from?”
Moron: “I think the city of Detroit.”
Reporter: “And where did they get the money?”
Moron: “Obama gave them the money.”
Reporter: “And where did he get the money?”
Moron: “I don’t know,..well he is the president so his stash somewhere.”
When I heard this I swear to god I thought that I was going to stroke out right there in the car. Really his stash? He got it from me!!!!! If you’re reading this he got this money from you too!!!!!!!!!!! I do understand the idea of helping people when they are down, unemployment and social security is great; for the temporarily unemployed, and social security is great for the disabled and elderly. But now we are talking about giving stimulus money to people whose main income is welfare. What did these people do to earn this money? Absolutely nothing. Don’t tell me that society has kept them down or that because of where they grew up they didn’t have a chance. I call BS, graduating high school is a first step, then here is an idea get FAFSA help and go to college. We all go into student loan debt to get degrees why should they be any different. Make these people responsible for their choices, I am not saying don’t help when people truly need if but let’s quit making living your whole life on the government teat a choice.

So now let’s get on to something fun, College Football!!!!
The games this week in the Big Ten leave a little to be desired but luckily there are other conferences out there.

-Oklahoma plays Texas this week in the Red River Shootout and this game should be a high scoring fun game. This looks like the only game that could keep Texas out of the National Championship game. Oklahoma is playing for a Big Twelve Championship and a berth in the BCS. I think that Colt McCoy and Jordan Shipley are going to be too much and Oklahoma’s offensive line is still not protecting all that well.
Texas 31 Oklahoma 28
-Notre Dame plays USC and this game could really be interesting. I am not quite sold on USC but I really don’t think that Notre Dame is all that great either. Jimmy Clausen has had a pretty good year and I just like Golden Tate’s name. USC is still starting a Freshman and again he has to go on the road and deal with a hostile crowd. All that said I think USC comes in and wins easy, Notre Dame can’t stop anybody.
USC 38 Notre Dame 31

As a side note Cincinnati is looking like a pretty good football team. They are explosive on offense and pretty good on the defensive side of the ball. They have a solid starting Quarterback and really good receivers. With this win over South Florida don’t be surprised to see Cinncy ranked over the Buckeyes in the first BCS Rankings.

What we know:
-Morgan has never seen a shot he won’t take, The Real Deal will pump fake your ass into submission and I still can’t dunk.

As requested by my two blog readers a post that has nothing to do with college basketball.
Random thoughts of a thoughtless mind.
-I know that we live in Columbus, Ohio but really can I get sports talk that doesn’t completely revolve around Ohio State and Big Ten football. The Big Ten is down and Ohio State will not be playing for a national title get over it move on.
-Our generation very unaccountable; whether it’s showing up on time to a party, saying yes to a sports team and never showing up to games and not paying for that spot on the team. I have to tell people to show up at 7:00 when I really want them there at 7:30 because I know that they are going to be half an hour late. How did this happen? We aren’t talking about showing up on time to work, we are talking about doing stuff with your friends. Do we really have such little respect? If you can’t come say so and don’t just say yes and not show.
-When are people going to realize that more government in your life is a bad thing. Why would I want the people that have managed to start and the bankrupt social security, start and nearly bankrupt the post office(which we knows is valid business ,UPS, FEDEX), have anything to do with my health care. If the US government was a business it would have been bankrupt a long time ago. When everything that they do goes over budget how can we trust any of their numbers?
-Another one that just kind of rubs me wrong, why do we think that the banks are the only reason for the housing market bubble? It was our government that wanted to raise home ownership from 64% to 69%. To accomplish this they forced banks to lower their lending standards without taking into account all of the foreclosures this would cause. The foreclosures and “toxic” loans that they created are one major forces that drove the stock market into this decline. It’s time we realize politicians create more problems then they fix.
-On a lighter side more likes sleeping with homeless people under stairwells.
-TJ can’t guard anyone and I still can’t dunk.
-I forgot to mention Marc Titus in my OSU blog. Titus is possibly the most important player on this year Ohio State team. He allows us to follow the team closer then anyone else in the country. I love Club Trillion and hope he keeps it going.
-The Ohio State Buckeyes will continue to role this weekend beating up a terrible Purdue team. Ohio State’s defense will probably out score Purdue’s offense.

Ohio State Basketball Preview

My favorite time of year closing in soon, that’s right it is almost time for college basketball to start. I decided that I would try to start a blog and follow the Big Ten and the ACC. I figured the easiest way to start would be to look at The Ohio State Buckeyes.
I was recently looking at buying season tickets for the Buckeyes, it was a short look. This year I believe that the Buckeyes one of the worst out of conference schedules ever. Here are their non conference games: Walsh, Alcorn State, James Madison, UNC, California or Syracuse, Lipscomb, St. Francis, Florida State, Eastern Michigan, Butler, Presbyterian, Delaware State, Cleveland State and West Virginia. Are you kidding me? What makes it even worse for season ticket holders is that UNC and Cal or Syracuse aren’t even home games and they don’t play Michigan State at home. I know it’s tough for programs like Ohio State to schedule tough games especially now that the never know who is coming back. Come on though you have to get a few good home games to get people to spend their hard earned money.
Now that I have gone off on that tangent let’s take a look at a few of the players and what we can except from this year team.
- You have to start with Evan Turner, he is a freak of nature at 6’7” 205 Turner is one of the most athletic people in all of college basketball. Hey can take the ball strong to the whole and finish. The key to his game is going to be developing that 15’to20’ jumper, that will force players to guard him tight and allow for the blow by. If Turner can get in the lane he can really cause problems for opponents.
-David Lighty is another key for the Buckeyes. He needs to have a strong presence on the offensive side of the court. We all know that he can play defense but with Turner being the only big time scorer on this team Lighty will have to step it up.
-William Buford was a pleasant surprise on this team last year and could turn into a pretty good ball player if he steps it up on the defensive side of the court. He had his Freshman moments last year and most of those should be work out by now. He does need to start knocking down the 3 ball a little better this year only hitting on 36% last year.
-John Diebler? Can he really play, is he going to step up and become the ball player we all thought that he could be. He better come in big and stronger if he wants to keep getting better. This is just a question of how bad does he really want this.
As for the team there are a lot of questions, can any of the Freshman step up and help. I think that this is definitely a tournament team but with a early exit. I think that they will finish 3rd in the Big Ten but that will be talked more about in my Big Ten wrap up later this week. I will pick them to go 22-9 (12-6)
