An article written by my favorite political author that I thought was worth reposting.
President Obama keeps talking about the jobs his administration is "creating" but there are more people unemployed now than before he took office. How can there be more unemployment after so many jobs have been "created"?
Let's go back to square one. What does it take to create a job? It takes wealth to pay someone who is hired, not to mention additional wealth to buy the material that person will use.
But government creates no wealth. Ignoring that plain and simple fact enables politicians to claim to be able to do all sorts of miraculous things that they cannot do in fact. Without creating wealth, how can they create jobs? By taking wealth from others, whether by taxation, selling bonds or imposing mandates.
However it is done, transferring wealth is not creating wealth. When government uses transferred wealth to hire people, it is essentially transferring jobs from the private sector, not adding to the net number of jobs in the economy.
If that was all that was involved, it would be a simple verbal fraud, with no gain of jobs and no net loss. In reality, many other things that politicians do reduce the number of jobs.
Politicians who mandate various benefits that employers must provide for workers gain politically by seeming to give people something for nothing. But making workers more expensive means that fewer are likely to be hired.
During an economic recovery, employers can respond to an increased demand for their companies' products by hiring more workers-- creating more jobs-- or they can work their existing employees overtime. Since workers have to be paid time-and-a-half for overtime, it might seem as if it would always be cheaper to hire more workers. But that was before politicians began mandating more benefits per worker.
When you get more hours of work from the existing employees, you don't need to pay for additional mandates, as you would have to when you get more hours of work by hiring new people. For many employers, that makes it cheaper to pay for overtime. The data show that overtime hours have been increasing in the economy while more people have been laid off.
There is another way of reducing the cost of government-imposed mandates. That is by hiring temporary workers, to whom the mandates do not apply.
The number of temporary workers hired has increased for the fourth consecutive month, even though there are millions of unemployed people who could be hired for regular jobs, if it were not for the mandates that politicians have imposed.
Economists have long been saying that there is no free lunch, but politicians get elected by seeming to give free lunches, in one form or another. Yet there are no magic wands in Washington to make costs disappear, whether with workers or with medical care. We just pay in a different way, often a more costly way.
Nor can these costs all be simply dumped on "the rich," because there are just not enough of them. Often people who are far from rich pay the biggest price in lost opportunities. A classic example is the minimum wage law.
Minimum wage laws appear to give low-income workers something for nothing-- and appearances are what count in politics. Realities can be left to others, so long as appearances get votes.
People with low skills or little experience usually get paid low wages. Passing a minimum wage law does not make them any more valuable. At a higher wage, it can just make them expendable. Raising the minimum wage in the midst of a recession was guaranteed to increase unemployment among the young-- and it has.
None of this is peculiar to the current administration. The Roosevelt administration created huge numbers of government jobs during the 1930s-- and yet unemployment remained in double digits throughout FDR's first two terms.
Constant government experiments with new bright ideas is another common feature of Obama's "change" and FDR's New Deal. The uncertainty that this unpredictable experimentation generates makes employers reluctant to hire. Destroying some jobs while creating other jobs does not get you very far, except politically. But politically is what matters to politicians, even if their policies needlessly prolong a recession or depression.

Health Care
First of all, what we can afford has absolutely nothing to do with the cost of producing anything. We will either pay those costs or not get the benefits. Moreover, if we cannot afford the quantity and quality of medical care that we want now, the government has no miraculous way of enabling us to afford it in the future.
If our government has a magical way to get rid of waste, fraud and abuse the question is why have we not done this before. If we cannot afford the doctors and the medical technology that we have now how are we ever going to afford, better care in the future, especially with the added weight of paying for government bureaucracy. Our politicans love talking about how much doctors get paid and how big pharmaceutical companies make tons of profit, but that truey is a small part of health care cost.
If our government wanted to truely lower health care cost the would start by iliminating careless lawsuits. A way to do that would be, if you lose your lawsuit you have pay for the other parties attorney fees. It would be amazing to watch how attonerys would then shy away from cases. It would also lead to more case actually going to trail because it would no longer just be cheaper for the defendants to just settle out of court. Now why has something like this never been done? Political donations, lawyers are major contributers for politicans and politicans now that if they ever took this away from them the contibutions would dry up quickly.
On the same line of thinking, if we ever limited how much a person could sue for over mal-practice health cost would surly drop. One of the major cost of doing buisiness as a doctor is Mal-practice insurance. The price of this insurance has risen at such a high rate that many doctors are leaving private practice to join hospitals and other medical centers so that they don't have to worry about it. I understand that it can be devistating to lose someone you love because someone made a mistake but does it hurt les because you get 100 million dollars. Lets be honest unless you are making an obsured amount of money your not going to earn that in your lifetime. Lets make it more like 10 Million or even 5. Your loved ones would still be taken care of and if there is a set amount of money that you are going to receive there would be no need to pay an attorney a third of what you get. The other thing that gets me about this is that doctors aren't perfect, we might want them to be but thier not. This insurance is suppose to be for when the doctor makes a terrible error in judgement not when a surgoen is attempting a very dangerous surgery and just can't fix it. By the way now surgeons are turning people away with tough cases for fear of being sued or dropped by their insurance. So a person that my have had a 20 percent chance of living if the had a risky surgery now have no chance becaue no one will operate.
This ideas are mine and I just wanted to share them with you, give you something to think about while your at work. Remember who you vote for and your ideals are your rights as an American. Just remember your vote an ideals can have an effect on not just you but future generations. It is our right and responsibilty to protect this country and what it stands for.

I hate the Yankees
-I hate the Yankees, I hate the Yankees and yes I hate the Yankees. I am so sick and tired of watching the rich teams buy Championships, which is what the Yankees try to do year in and year out. Why would I watch a sport where I know that who is going to make the playoffs before the season even starts. I just can’t stand that the only competitive teams either come from the East Coast or LA. Baseball seems to have forgotten about the “Flyover” part of the country. I really just can’t stand baseball anymore I am just done with it. It’s slow annoying and none of the teams I like are ever competitive. Baseball sucks that’s it and now on to more important things.
-Ohio State has a monster game this weekend against Penn St, this is a must win game for the Buckeyes if they want to stay relevant across the country. With a win Ohio State would have a de facto Big Ten Championship game against Iowa the next week. Ohio State absolutely can and maybe even should win this game, but there will be a ton of pressure on the defense. There is no way that we can expect Terrell Pryor to make a major turn around in a week. The offense is going to struggle this week, Penn St has good team speed on defense and can really get to the Quarterback. The offense line is going to have to open up holes for Sane and Herron, because they cannot count on excelling in the passing game. It’s is going to be an interesting game that could really go either way.
-Ohio State had their season opener against Walsh. They did look good and the bounce pass from Lighty to Bueford was absolutely beautiful. The problem is that you can’t tell much about a team when they play someone with such an inferior talent level. I believe the only thing that we did learn was that we are better than Syracuse. It is bad enough to schedule a division 2 school when you’re ranked in the top 25, but to lose to them at home is just plain imbarressing. I guess we will just have to wait until November 19 to find out how good this Buckeye team is.

Still Don't know what an Aggie is.
-How much is the loss of Petry going to hurt the Buckeyes? Who knows but if recent history tells us anything, this could be one of the biggest losses for a team like this. In close games you can’t afford to give up points and with a backup kicker you never know. We know that Jim Tressell loves to play close games and he always says any drive that ends in a kick is a good drive. How much do you think that Tressell would love to have had his scheduled by week now.
-Texas looked really strong this weekend and is well on their way to a BCS Championship game. Speaking of the BCS wow what a mess this could end up being again this year. The Top 7 ranked teams are undefeated right now and look like most will stay that way, (I know that Alabama and Florida will meet in the SEC championship game). I am really tired of hearing how every week is a playoff in college football. No it’s not; if we had a playoff in college football we would have more big time regular season games. We would see USC play people and Penn State might actually schedule some buddy in 1-A. No big time school is going to play a tough out of conference schedule when all they have to do is go undefeated in their conference and schedule the New Mexico State’s of the world. I would kill for a least a plus one so we could find out who is the best team in college football. What if Boise State ends up undefeated and doesn’t even get to play in a BCS game. College football’s system is broken and someone needs to fix it.
-Oh this part of the blog only for a select few, oh wait this whole blog is for a select few. So I have been watching old reruns of Star Trek Enterprise and I definitely think that this series was way under rated. They did a very good job incorporating the older Star Treks, but still keeping the episodes fresh. I do wish that they would have done more episodes to advance the overall plot but I want all shows to do that. Jonathan Archer might have moved up a few spots too as most badass captains. I believe my list now goes: Picard, Kirk, Archer, Janeway and then the Black dude on deep space nine.
-Now that I am on the TV subject, I am going to keep going with it. I now realize why I like shows like 24, Flashforward and Lost. They don’t waste time doing the cliché shows, like learning to trust someone of a different species/ race or the you’re growing up episodes. You know which shows that I am talking about, the ones that every show does no matter what the genre. I want the stories to keep going. I have very little that I truly look forward to, Basketball, seeing Beth, and watching my shows. Do you know how disappointing it is to sit down start watching one of your favorite shows and realize that this is the learning a lesson from a character you would never thought would have helped. I just want my shows to keep coming, like little movies every week.
-TJ still can’t guard me, Morgan can take a church league basketball player to the hope, Steele just pump faked you out of your jock and I still can’t dunk.

Happy Birthday Ashley
-Can you believe it? Can you believe it, basketball is back baby! Last night was the first night of the NBA season and wow was it….. Typical NBA basketball. Play hard the first quarter see if you can blow out the road team and get them to quit. If that doesn’t work coast for the second and third quarter and the see if you can finish out you opponent in the fourth. I really do struggle watching an NBA game, there is no ball movement and there is just so much one on one play the games never feel like they have a true rhythm.
-I did enjoy watching the Cavs try to assimilate their new players. Shaq is huge and let’s be honest he is not interested in playing this time of year. He never has been it doesn’t matter the key for this team is a healthy happy and motivated Shaq in the playoffs. Anthony Parker looked pretty good and he and Moon are going to be keys to late season victories. Last year the Cavs got caught with a very small backcourt, Parker and Moon give them the size the need. I know that I sound like a homer but I think that late in the season you could see Danny Green getting some key minutes. He has a nose for making the big play and can knock down a big three.
-Lebron looked like Lebron. He is dominating; nobody can match his size speed and strength. He can get to the hoop almost whenever he wants and man can he finish. He can come up with big blocks in transition and almost always comes up with one big steal. I really hope that he has developed his 3 point shooting . Once he gets that going he truly will be unstoppable. I think this supporting cast is the best that he has had so it will be interesting to see what they can all do.
-Again I will be called a homer but I think that Tyler Hansbrough will have a better year than most people think. He will be playing against mostly second string players and if we know anything about him he will out work you for ten points a game. I am also excited because he has been getting ringing endorsements from Larry Bird.
-Its Halloween weekend and I guess I am getting a little old, because I am really not all that interested. I know there are big parties and you get to dress up but really I like sitting in a warm comfortable chair not worrying about home I am going to get home. I really don’t want to have to worry about what I am going to dress up like and I really don’t want to have to worry about the amateurs out there that drink 3 days a year and can’t handle there liquor.
-I have two questions, What the F@#K is a Hoosier and What the F%&K is an Aggie? And why do the Buckeyes play both this year? Ok so that was three questions.

Try this again
Wow, after completely f@34ing up my blog last Friday, yes I now know that Michigan didn’t play Iowa, we are going to try this again. We will start this review of the weekend by saying we didn’t learn anything. We knew Ohio State could beat an average football team, Iowa could win ugly albeit in a very entertaining game. Florida and Texas are beatable but it’s going to take a heck of an effort. We knew TCU was good, but maybe not quite this good so maybe we learned a little.
-I don’t quite know how to score my picks from Friday as Michigan did lose, Iowa did win even though it was in different games so let’s call that two wins so that makes me 4-0 last Friday and 2-0 the week before that 6-0 on my own blog so let’s keep that going. TCU absolutely crushed BYU at BYU and that was impressive, their offense was explosive and the defense was absolutely visisous. I can’t wait for both BYU and Boise to blow up the BCS, can we finally get a playoff?
-The Buckeyes looked really good this week but it was against a average to below average Big Ten team. You can’t tell much from games like this. Terrell Pryor looked good but this is his MO, beat up on inferror athletes. He can do what he wants because he is big stronger and faster then there hole team. The big question is can he remember what he learned from this game when they play a big time opponent. I hope he keeps progressing, but only time will tell. I was very happy with the way the Freshman running back Martin played, he ran hard and pyshical. He looks like a good North, South runner and could be dominate in the goal line settings.
-I apologize to Barndo for not making it to you birthday extravaganza , I felt like crap and needed to catch up on some sleep promise I will make it to the next one. I promise not to breaka your heart anymore.
-Now for my little rant. I am so pissed of that my TV shows are starting to show reruns already! Are you kidding me, I wait along damn summer long for my shows to start back up and you can’t keep new ones coming for more the 5 weeks in a row? I know you have to work on your other “Projects” but come on. I just want to watch good quality TV, I hate reality TV and try not to watch it but I can only watch so many Star Trek reruns. Please just keep the new shows coming.
-Can’t wait for tonight, the Grandview transfers will dominate, Morgan will go for 50 on 20-55 shooting very AI like, and I will dunk on TJ.

College Football Day
Thank God it’s Friday! I have been locked up in either my house or at my office now for the last seven days, I am ready to get out and go cause some trouble. Between Elizabeth and I having the flu and then having to catch up at work for the three days I missed, I am ready to go crazy so let me know what any of you are up to.
So tomorrow is college football day or as it’s now around the rest of the country Saturday. Again there are some great match ups around the country including a couple interesting games in the Big Ten.
-Ohio State playing Minnesota is quite an interestinggame, these two teams could go either way at this point of season. Ohio State coming of a horrible lose to Purdue really needs to come out and establish themselves offensively and defensively. We really need to see the defense flying around making big plays, and the offense really needs to sustain long drives to give the defense a break. Ohio State still controls its own destiny, win out and they can still win the Big Ten and that is a lot to play for. Minnesota on the other hand has looked very good at points in time this year but Offensively they need to establish someone else as an offensive threat, other than Decker. I think that Ohio State comes out and shuts Minnesota down. Their defense will come out angry and create some turnovers which will lead to easy points OSU 31 Minnesota 7
-Another Big Ten game that has some intrigue is the Michigan versus Iowa. I think that Michigan is the kind of team that can knock off anyone at anytime. They have an explosive offense that can score and score quickly and a Freshman Quarterback that doesn’t realize that Freshman aren’t supposed to win big games. Michigan’s problem is that they can’t stop anybody, their defense is anemic and is just weak. Iowa is really interesting to me, they did beat Penn State, but how good is Penn State. Iowa could be a really good team but they aren’t going to get a ton of respect from the national media until they beat a team outside the Big Ten, problem is they won’t play anyone outside the Big Ten until their bowl game. Iowa is a tough physical team that is playing an updated version of old school Big Ten foot ball. This game was a difficult to pick, I really think that Michigan can upset Iowa but Iowa has too much riding on this game: Iowa 38 Michigan 17
-A game that has big BCS implications that most people don’t know about is TCU versus BYU. That’s right this game has BCS implications simply for the reason TCU is undefeated and so is Boise State but only one of them will play in the BCS. TCU has a tougher schedule to finish up with, but if they win out they will jump Boise in the computer polls and probably in the human polls as well. This would mean that an undefeated Boise State team won’t only get hosed out of playing for a BCS title but they won’t even get to play in a BCS game. God I hate the BCS when will they finally get around to having a playoff? TCU 31 BYU 28
-Pay attention to what your government is doing! The Federal Reserve is now trying to take over all Executive pay in the Banking Industry, not just the banks that asked for federal help but all of them. You might ask why does this affect you ? If they take over Executive pay in the banking industry how long do you think it is going to take before they control all Executive pay. Well you might say I am not a executive , well you might not be right now, but there is a pretty good chance that you or someone you know will someday own their own business. That would make you or them an executive. What gives the government the right to tell people how much money people can make. We are a free market, or we are suppose to be, tell the government to leave us alone. Oh by the way those people who they government wants to cut their compensation pay the most taxes. The top 10% of all earners pay 90% of all taxes, just a thought.

So tomorrow is college football day or as it’s now around the rest of the country Saturday. Again there are some great match ups around the country including a couple interesting games in the Big Ten.
-Ohio State playing Minnesota is quite an interestinggame, these two teams could go either way at this point of season. Ohio State coming of a horrible lose to Purdue really needs to come out and establish themselves offensively and defensively. We really need to see the defense flying around making big plays, and the offense really needs to sustain long drives to give the defense a break. Ohio State still controls its own destiny, win out and they can still win the Big Ten and that is a lot to play for. Minnesota on the other hand has looked very good at points in time this year but Offensively they need to establish someone else as an offensive threat, other than Decker. I think that Ohio State comes out and shuts Minnesota down. Their defense will come out angry and create some turnovers which will lead to easy points OSU 31 Minnesota 7
-Another Big Ten game that has some intrigue is the Michigan versus Iowa. I think that Michigan is the kind of team that can knock off anyone at anytime. They have an explosive offense that can score and score quickly and a Freshman Quarterback that doesn’t realize that Freshman aren’t supposed to win big games. Michigan’s problem is that they can’t stop anybody, their defense is anemic and is just weak. Iowa is really interesting to me, they did beat Penn State, but how good is Penn State. Iowa could be a really good team but they aren’t going to get a ton of respect from the national media until they beat a team outside the Big Ten, problem is they won’t play anyone outside the Big Ten until their bowl game. Iowa is a tough physical team that is playing an updated version of old school Big Ten foot ball. This game was a difficult to pick, I really think that Michigan can upset Iowa but Iowa has too much riding on this game: Iowa 38 Michigan 17
-A game that has big BCS implications that most people don’t know about is TCU versus BYU. That’s right this game has BCS implications simply for the reason TCU is undefeated and so is Boise State but only one of them will play in the BCS. TCU has a tougher schedule to finish up with, but if they win out they will jump Boise in the computer polls and probably in the human polls as well. This would mean that an undefeated Boise State team won’t only get hosed out of playing for a BCS title but they won’t even get to play in a BCS game. God I hate the BCS when will they finally get around to having a playoff? TCU 31 BYU 28
